Hull Collegiate School celebrate being finalists at the Golden Apple Education Awards
Now in its fourth year, the Hull Daily Mail Golden Apples celebrates the best East Yorkshire schools and colleges have to offer by recognising the staff and students who make a difference.
There are ten awards, all specially designed to capture and celebrate the unsung heroes of Hull and East Riding’s education industry who give the added extra to help our young people thrive.
We were delighted to be a finalist in the category of Community Award for the incredible Safi Coffee project, a pupil led intiative importing coffee from Uganda to sell across the UK with every penny of profit paying for Ugandan children to attend school.
The awards ceremony was held at the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel, Willerby and was hosted by BBC TV Presenter Keeley Donovan. Safi Coffee was served to each guest after the meal. Year 13 pupils George, Andrew, Toby, Keiran, Micah and Habib took the opportunity to network at the event and received many positive comments about the project and the wonderful taste of Safi. One of winners also bought six bags to use in their staff room at school.
It was an honour to have been nominated and this prestigious event. All pupils involved have worked so hard in bringing Safi Coffee to fruition. They are a credit to Hull Collegiate School.
