ISA Sport National Athletics Championships - June 2017

On Monday 19th June 2017 a group of pupils travelled to the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham for the ISA National Athletics Championships. There are seven regions which have held their own area athletics meetings prior to today. Our pupils have already acheived a significant goal in the Northern region by their selection to this prestigious event in the ISA calendar.

Competing in this stadium, which holds so many high profile athletic events, is a great honour and everyone attending has worked hard to be there. Brendan Reilly was the guest sportsman. Brendan is a Double Olympic High Jumper having won medals and broke records at all levels of competition from National to World Cup level. Brendan is also a qualified PE teacher and now uses his experiences to help schools inspire and engage pupils and parents through his work with 'Squad in Touch'.

Our huge congratulations to the following pupils:

  • Tom coming 3rd in Year 5 high jump
  • Toby coming 1st in the Year 6 high jump
  • Joel in the long jump with 5.97m
  • Harry coming 1st and who narrowly missed out on English Schools qualifying time in the 800m with 2.06.66s
  • Tumi coming 2nd in the 200m
  • Tom who was part of the runners up Year 6 relay team
  • Tumi who was part of the winning Year 9 relay team
  • Joel who was part of the winning Year 10 relay team

Well done boys, we are extremely proud of you.
