Year 13 pupil Libby accepted onto the Flying Start degree programme at Newcastle University

Year 13 pupil Libby is thrilled to have been accepted onto the prestigious Flying Start degree programme. Libby is the second pupil from her year group at Hull Collegiate to be heading to Newcastle University in September to begin a four year degree with PWC in Business, Accounting and Finance.

Libby attended an assessment day at Newcastle University last week. With competition from hundreds of applicants around the country, she was delighted to hear she had been accepted onto the programme. Libby first saw the programme when she was in the Base Competition last year, organised by Head of Business Studies and Economics Mrs Sue Kelsall.

It was a tough interview which Libby enjoyed and found challenging. The day gave her an insight into University life which will include three 3 month placements throughout her degree. Libby has also excelled in sport at Hull Collegiate which along with having mock interviews, huge support from staff has given her the help and confidence to be successful on her assessment day.

Libby said ''I am so happy and excited. I'm looking forward to starting this fabulous degree and University life. The interview was hard but I enjoyed it. I felt well prepared and that's down to the support and help I've had from my teachers''.

Headteacher Mrs Rebecca Glover said, ''I would like to say a huge congratulations to Libby for being accepted on the Price Waterhouse Coopers Flying Start degree programme. She has worked incredibly hard throughout her time at Hull Collegiate School which has helped secure her place on this competitive scheme. We are all very proud of her and wish her lots of luck.''
