Year 7 visit the Etihad Stadium and Sport City, Manchester.

Year 7 had a fantastic trip to Manchester where they enjoyed a tour of the Etihad Stadium including the new Tunnel Bar and the amazing new changing rooms for the Manchester City players.

The area known as Sport City has been changed beyond recognition in the past 10 years. Like many parts of Manchester, it contained factories, mills and warehouses built 200 years ago when the city was an important industrial centre. Over the years, especially since the 1960's, the factories closed down, people lost their jobs and the whole area became run down and derelict.

Pupils learned about how and why this area of Manchester has been regenerated and the transformation after the Commonwealth Games ended. The day ended with a brief visit to the Velodrome.

This was an informative trip part of the Geography syllabus. The pupils had a thoroughly enjoyable day and were a credit to the school and behaved impeccably. Thank you Mr Thatcher (Head of Geography) for organising.
