Sustainability Day for Year 8 pupils. June 2019

Sustainability Day for Year 8 pupils - June 2019

Pupils in Year 8 enjoyed their 'Sustainability Day' in school today. They worked in groups in Food Technology, Design Technology and Art where they used Fairtrade products all with a moral and ethical background.

In Food Technology, pupils made Chocolate Eclairs, Sausage Spin Wheels, Fondant Fancies, Choux Pastry Profiteroles and Chocolate and Brown Sugar Swirl Meringues. In Design Technology, they made tealight holders out of recycled wood using the Morticer machine, and in Art pupils contributed to making a fantastic collage depicting food miles. Each square is an offcut of wood saved over the last year. The collage shows an electric car, solar panels and wind turbines. This will be displayed in the school corridor on the ground floor. You are welcome to come along and see it anytime.

The afternoon ended with a tea party in the Baccarat Room where pupils and staff enjoyed a wonderful selection of food made by the pupils.
