Former pupil wins Apprentice of the Year

Following her A Levels, Courtney started her apprenticeship with the Spencer group in 2015 and has gone from strength to strength having recently been as Apprentice of the Year. The event which sees hundreds of apprentices apply, hoping for the top award is attended by some of the region’s most influential businesses. Courtney, a CAD designer, impressed judges of the Viking FM awards with her commitment, enthusiasm and ability, which has led her to work on flagship projects around the UK for the Spencer Group.

Courtney, aged 20, one of 11 apprentices to qualify with the Spencer Group this year, and is now one of the lead designers of Energy Works - their innovative waste-to- energy plant located in Hull.

Courtney is full of praise for apprenticeships with Spencer Group: "We've all had brilliant opportunities in the two years we have been training." She said. "Colleagues at Spencer Group created a bespoke apprenticeship for me when I told them I had always been interested in the design and architectural elements of buildings.

The award is is something I would never have imagined achieving, and without the help and support at Collegiate I don’t think I would have come this far."
