Oscar on stage at Hull Truck Theatre

We are pleased to announce that Year 7 student Oscar is performing in Oliver Twist in this year's Christmas show at Hull Truck Theatre. This is a massive achievement for Oscar as his first acting performance was in last year’s Prep production where he was cast as the Pharaoh. This is all very new to him.

Oscar went to musical theatre classes at the Northern Academy of Performing Arts from age 4-8 before starting the drama group at Hull Truck when he was 10 years old.

Oscar said, ‘’I’m really excited to be part of the chorus. This is my first time on a big stage so I’m a bit nervous but can’t wait to get started.’’

Music teacher Mrs Maynard said, ‘’Oscar was a joy to teach. He’s a natural performer which really showed when he played the Pharaoh last year. He has now moved into the Senior School so I won’t see him as much but will enjoy watching him grow over the coming years.’’

Headmistress, Alex Wilson, said ‘’I am delighted Oscar has secured his part in Oliver and I’m looking forward to seeing him perform. He has recently discovered his true talent and through our drama department, he will learn new skills and build his confidence and strengths. I look forward to watching Oscar develop throughout the Senior School.’’

There are 54 shows in total with Oscar performing in 27 of them. This is not just about acting or performing, it’s about dedication and commitment. We all wish Oscar lots of luck.

A story of courage in adversity, Oliver Twist is a classic tale that touches us all, with a large dose of Christmas cheer and festive sparkle!
