The Ferens has a magnificent collection of paintings and sculptures, including works by European Old Masters, portraiture, marine painting, and modern and contemporary British art.

The Junior Open Exhibition has been held annually at the Gallery since 2004. It celebrates the creative talent of young people in Hull and the surrounding area.

We are pleased to annouce 20 pieces of work from Prep pupils were submitted and all 20 have been selected to go on show in the exhibition.

A launch event for the exhibition took place on Saturday 1 December where Year 4 Robert's artwork ‘Poppies’ won second prize in the 7-11 age category.

The focus of our artwork in KS2 is WW1 as it is the centenary this year.

Year 6 created their own version of ‘We are creating a new World’ by Paul Nash.

Year 5 created Warhorse images with bleeding poppies.

Y4 explored printing poppies.

Y3 created collages of WW1 newspaper cuttings with poppies.

The exhibition is now open and runs until the 20th January.

Mrs Kell, Head of Prep School said, ''I would like to congratulate all pupils who have been selected to be part of this wonderful exhibition. A big well done to Robert who won second prize in his category. The talent within our school is amazing; it's a pleasure to see the work produced by our pupils.''
